The internet is buzzing that New York rapper Lil’ Kim is ready to make a major comeback with the help of long-time homie Jay-Z. She has reportedly joined his entertainment label, Roc Nation. According to multiple reports, fellow Brooklynite Jay will also be executive producer for her highly anticipated follow-up to 2005’s “The Naked Truth.”
“Album should be out in a few months,” the Queen Bee said in an interview at the 2010 BET Awards pre-show. Although Kim’s most recent single, “Download“ featuring T-Pain and Charlie Wilson, was released in March 2009, the song will still be featured on her upcoming album. Another song produced by Konvict Music producer Detail is on the way. Speaking about the new album, the ex-Junior M.A.F.I.A member confessed, “I’m feeling really sexy and nasty ya’ll, so it’s gonna be an upgrade of ‘Hard Core’ [Kim’s debut solo album, released in 1996].”
With Nicki Minaj currently taking all the attention as the go-to female rapper, Kim and Jay have their work cut out for them. Hov might say a word about that when he makes an official announcement about the Queen Bee joining Roc Nation. Lil Wayne/Minaj and Jay-Z/Kim battle is ready to begin…
Lil’ Kim and Jay-Z have collaborated on multiple songs and projects since she entered the industry, 16 years ago. Hov just might be the one to revive the career of the Notorious K.I.M, who has been recognized more for her time in prison (in 2005/2006) and performance on the American TV show “Dancing with the Stars“ (in 2009) than her music in the past few years.
