It’s official, Lauryn Hill will perform at Rock The Bells 2010 festival this summer! The rumors that were first denied by the tour organizers turned out to be true when Ms. Lauryn Hill was announced as the festival’s “very special guest” on June 8th. The former Fugees lead singer will perform in Los Angeles, New York, and Washington starting August 21st along with Snoop Dogg, A Tribe Called Quest, The Wu-Tang Clan, Rakim, KRS-One, and many others hip-hop artists.
This piece of news comes as a surprise since Lauryn Hill is avoiding public appearances ever since her 2002 “Unplugged” album. Does this mean the author of the amazing “Miseducation of Lauryn Hill,” named one of the greatest albums of all time by Rolling Stone magazine, is finally ready to come back? Nothing is so sure, since Hill has the annoying tendency to cancel her tours or to show up two hours late at her own concerts. Let’s just cross fingers that this won’t happen at Rock the Bells!
2010 might be the year for the artist, since Lauryn Hill declared she was “possibly” working on a new project last April as she appeared at a charity gala in New York City. Ronald Isley, of the Isley Brothers, recently confirmed he was working with Hill on an upcoming album. Although her anticipated come back is a lot to handle, we hope Lauryn Hill won’t give in to the pressure and will deliver something that equals her incredible talent.
So while we are waiting for more information on this new project, Rock the Bells seems to be the perfect occasion to see the “miseducated one” on stage! Stay tuned to know more about the festival’s world tour dates…
