The greatest French swimmer of all time, Laure Manaudou, has announced her intention to officially return to the competition after 3 years of retirement. She clearly stated that her main goal was to qualify for the London Olympics in 2012.
For that she’ll have to be ready for the French selections that will take place March 2012. She will resume training in Auburn (USA), where her boyfriend Frédérick Bousquet usually practices. Her new coach is Brett Hawke who trained swimmers like César Cielo in the past.
Reactions in the French world of swimming are contrasted. While some swimmers are pleased, others would rather not comment. Even her former mentor, Philippe Lucas, said he really could not care less, even though he considers that « she has the potential to come back ».
