Ke$ha

New red-hot Pop sensation Ke$ha, who gained exposure in early 2009 after appearing on Flo Rida’s chart-topping single “Right Round,” and who has written songs for Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus, is making a name through her own music.

Ke$ha’s sassy debut single “Tik Tok,” which features a cameo appearance by Diddy, made history by racking up the most digital downloads at the end of the week of December 27, 2009 after selling 610,000 downloads — the highest ever by a female artist. The song currently sits in the No. 2 spot on the Billboard Hot 100.

Early in her career, the American singer spent her time working as a waitress to make ends meet while pursuing her passion. It was while performing that she met music producer Dr. Luke who had come across her demos and was so impressed that he contacted her and soon after the pair began working alongside producer Max Martin.

Between 2006 and 2009, Ke$ha’s music appeared in a variety of media, her song “Former Overexposed Blonde” appeared in Degrassi: The Next Generation, while “Backstabber” and “Chain Reaction” were used in The Hills. She also co-wrote The Veronicas’ single, “This Love” and appeared in the video of her friend Katy Perry’s single, “I Kissed a Girl.”

Known for her wild antics, Ke$ha was thrown out of Prince’s house after sneaking into his Beverly Hills home to drop off her demo. Her debut album, “Animal,” was released on January 5, 2010 and the record is poised to hit the #1 spot of the charts this week. She will be hitting the road this summer alongside Sarah McLachlan and Emmylou Harris, on the recently re-launched Lilith Fair.
