New pop sensation and self-taught musician Justin Bieber has been taking the world by storm. Adapting nicely to his new found fame, the 15-year-old phenomenon singer is finally putting his name on the music scene
The singer released the first half of his two-part debut studio album, “My World” in November 2009. Usher, Tricky Stewart, The-Dream and Midi Mafia are amongst some of the producers and writers who worked on the project that is mostly inspired by teen romance and Bieber’s experience about his parents’ divorce.
Upon its release in July 2009, “One Time” the lead single produced by Tricky Stewart reached # 12 in the Canadian Hot 100 and number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. In less than a month the album was certified platinum in Canada. Two months later “My World” was certified Platinum in the U.S., by selling over a million copies.
It didn’t take long for Bieber to release his next three consecutive singles, “One Less Lonely Girl,” “Love Me,” and “Favorite Girl” which like its predecessor landed in the top 40 in the U.S. and within the top 15 in Canada, thus making him the only artist in Billboard history to have four singles from a debut album chart in the Top 40 of the Hot 100 at the same time.
Bieber, Usher’s protégé, was raised by his mother, Pattie Mallette. At the tender age of 12, he was performing and singing on the local scene in his native Ontario. He was discovered by So So Def former marketing executive Scooter Braun who saw his videos on YouTube. So impressed by Bieber, Braun flew him to Atlanta, Georgia, where the singer met with R&B star Usher who immediately became greatly interested by his talent. Soon after he was signed to Island Records.
Only time will tell if Bieber’s puppy-love ballads and dance-pop style that have been compare to Chris Brown and Ne-Yo, will continue to captivate and bring fans to his new found fame and swagger.
In related news, Bieber’s new lead single, “Baby” featuring rapper Ludacris from his upcoming “My World 2.0” album is currently at the #5 on the Billboard Hot 100. “My World 2.0” will be released on March, 23rd 2010.
