Joe Frazier’s funeral took place in his hometown of Philadelphia on Monday, November 14th in the presence of his family and big names in boxing, including former heavyweight champion Larry Holmes and well-known promoter Don King. People especially noticed the presence of Frazier’s best enemy, Muhammad Ali. Frazier was the first boxer to defeat him.
The rivalry between the two boxers is unique in the history of boxing. For a long time, Ali had dragged Frazier’s name through the mud but had apologized personally later in life.
Ali’s presence at Frazier’s funeral was all the more noteworthy that the former world heavyweight champion suffers from Parkinson’s syndrome and has trouble getting around.
