Soul singer Jill Scott, who just had a baby boy with her fiancée and musician John Roberts, and who was formerly married to Lyzel Williams has called it quit. The news of the breakup came unexpectedly for the “Golden” singer who had planned on getting married to Roberts.
Jill Scott broke the news during an interview with Essence Magazine stating: “John and I are no longer together.”
“When you have a baby you’re dealing with a lot of emotions and I don’t know how much of it had to do with us breaking up, but it happens,” Scott said.
While the singer said they are no longer together, she mentioned that Roberts will continue to be part of her son’s life.
The singer will now focus on her new album, but also on her acting career. She played the role of Precious Ramotswe in the No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency, a movie and a series that was broadcasted on HBO a few weeks ago.
