The suspense is over as the name of the European Female Athlete of the Year has finally been announced.
Beating out Russia’s Olympic high jump gold medallist Anna Chicherova and the Czech Republic’s Olympic javelin champion Barbora Spotakova, is Team GB’s very own golden girl, Jessica Ennis.
The 26-year-old Sheffielder clinched Olympic gold in the heptathlon in London this summer with a British and Commonwealth record score of 6,955 points.
