Actress and singer Jennifer Hudson has a new role. The 27-year-old Oscar winner gave birth to her first child; a son named David Daniel Otunga Jr., on Monday, august 10.
The baby, who weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces is named after Hudson’s fiancé David Otunga. According to her publicist, Lisa Kasteler, “the baby is beautiful and perfect” and “his parents are ecstatic” about the birth.
Prior to giving birth to her son, the singer always refused to determine the sex of the baby.
Otunga Jr.’s birth follows Hudson’s tragic blow when her mother, brother and nephew were killed by her sister’s estranged husband in 2008.
Hudson, who gained fame on the popular show “American Idol,” has not only won a Grammy for Best R&B Album earlier this year for her self-titled debut album but also an Academy Award for best supporting actress in 2007 for “Dreamgirls”.
