Jay-Z will be performing for one night only in New York City’s Madison Square Garden for a concert meant to honor the families and victims of the 2001 World Trade Center attacks. All profits from the event will be donated to the New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund, a charity created to help support the families of New York police officers and firefighters who have died while on duty. The concert, dubbed “Answer the Call,” will also be broadcast live.
“This charity and concert encompass the true spirit of New York City,” said Brooklyn-bred Jay-Z in regards to the event. “Answer the Call” will take place on the eighth anniversary of the World Trade Center attacks, which also coincides with the release of Jay-Z’s highly anticipated “Blueprint 3” album.
