The third installment of the classic “Blueprint” series enables Jay-Z to break another charts record. This time, the New York MC beat none other than rock legend Elvis Presley!
Since its release on September 11 2009, the “Blueprint 3” has been crushing competition, debuting at #1 with 476,000 copies sold for the first week of availability. Since then, the album has pushed more than 1.2 millions copies, making Jay-Z the only solo artist to be ranked eleven times #1 on US charts. The King Elvis himself only made it ten times…. Simply amazing.
The BP3 is the third chapter of a saga that started in 2001. The first LP explored the music that has rocked Hova’s childhood. The second, a double LP, symbolized his teenage years, and the third is definitely a concentrate of Jay-Z’s creativity: the sound of maturity.
This final chapter was also a new opportunity for the former Def jam CEO to work again with long time collaborators Pharrell Williams and Kanye West, as well as to introduce newcomers to the hip hop game like Mr Hudson or Drake. Is it Jay-Z’s way to pass the torch to the new generation?
