Ja Rule

Multi-platinum selling artist Ja Rule has announced his comeback with the release of “Venni Vetti Vecci 2010” next year.

The former Murder Inc. leader is currently seeking a label to handle the distribution of the album. The upcoming release will be the sequel to his first commercial success “Venni Vetti Vecci,” which went platinum in 1999 thanks to the hit single “Holla Holla.”

He became one of the hottest rappers in the game with the release of “Rule 3:36” in 2001, followed by his classic “Pain is Love” in 2002. Both albums went multi-platinum and included numerous radio hits that featured R&B singers such as Ashanti, Christina Milian and Jennifer Lopez. These commercial tracks marked a shift in Ja’s career direction. He switched from hardcore raps to mainstream music and launched many Murder Inc. artists’ careers.

However, the past few years have been rough for Ja Rule, whose reputation was badly damaged in his infamous beef with 50 Cent in 2003. The two New York MCs fired shots at each other using tracks and interviews disses as their weapons of choice. 50 Cent eventually won the fight and Ja Rule decided to distance himself from the hip hop game and focus on his growing acting career.

The rapper, born Jeffrey Atkins, landed small roles in movies such as “The Fast and the Furious” and “Scary Movie 3” and was also featured in an episode of “CSI: Miami.” Now over his break from music, it seems like Ja is ready to reclaim his crown as King of New York. In 2008 he released “The Mirror,” a free mixtape to be downloaded online and featuring the single “Hu Ooh” with Lil Wayne. Unfortunately, the lack of promotional support, mainly due to the poor financial situation of Murder Inc., prevented the mixtape from gaining significant public attention.

Today, the award-winning rapper seems to believe that it’s finally time for a real comeback. Will he manage to recapture his past glory and top the charts once again? A confirmed release date for the album has not yet been announced…
