Controversial rapper XXXTentacion was killed in Broward County, Florida on Monday, June 18th while shopping for motorcycles.
According to TMZ, where the news was first reported, XXXTentacion was reportedly leaving a motorcycle dealer when a gunman opened fire while he was sitting in his car. In very graphic video footage circulating on the Internet, XXX, real name Jahseh Onfroy, is seen lying in his car motionless.
XXXTentacion’s rise to fame began at the end of 2015 when the then adolescent rapper released the track “Look At Me”. The controversial rapper was also charged with disturbing crimes including beating his ex-girlfriend to the point where she “could not see”. While his problematic behavior didn’t prevent him for getting a record deal, a successful carrer and a solid fanbase, many other rap fans, personalities and medias (including TRACE website) had decided to boycott him and his music.
However, hip hop artists such as Kanye West, J. Cole, Erykah Badu or Lil Yachty took to social media in utter devastation after his untimely passing. He was only 20.
rest in peace 🙏🙏🙏 I never told you how much you inspired me when you were here thank you for existing pic.twitter.com/QU7DR3Ghbw
