The Grammy Nominations that aired Wednesday, December 1st in the USA were a bit of a surprise for some fans in the hip-hop community but one rapper’s handful of nominations were not.
Rapper Eminem, who was awarded an amazing 10 nominations included best album for the “Recovery,” and record of the year for, “Love the Way You Lie.”
Eminem’s last Grammy nomination for album of the year was approximately 10 years ago for “The Marshall Mathers LP.” But this year, the rapper leads with the most nominations and rides on high expectations.
Bruno Mars, who had just popped into the scene this year, is trailing Eminem with 7 nominations, including record of the year for “Nothin’ on You,” and best male pop vocal for his own hit, “Just the Way You Are.”
Last years nominations were predictable but this year contains some of the biggest hit albums from artists such as Taylor Swift and Kanye West.
Other top nominees included Lady Antebellum, Jay-Z, Lady Gaga, and Justin Bieber.
However, fans were surprised by zero nominations for some of the new additions to the music community. Nicki Minaj, Alicia Keys, Trey Songz, and Ke$ha were not mentioned or awarded any nominations.
The 2011 Grammy nominations were revealed as part of a 1-hour live concert featuring performances from artists such as Katy Perry and Bruno Mars.
The 53rd Annual Grammy Awards will air on television Sunday, Feb. 13, at 8 p.m., ET. It will take place in Los Angeles, USA at the Staples Center.
