Originally from London and now living in New York, singing sensation Estelle topped the UK Singles charts on Sunday, March 23rd.
She went straight to number one with her hit single “American Boy” featuring hip hop star Kanye West.
“It has done it on digital downloads alone, selling over 50,000 units,” said a spokeswoman for the charts company.
“American Boy” is the first single from Estelle�s new album “Shine” – set for release on April 29 in the U.S. and March 31 in the UK.
Estelle is the first artist signed by US soul sensation John Legend, to his new Homeschool Records label. Her new album features collaborations with Wyclef Jean, will.i.am, Swizz Beats, Mark Ronson and Kanye West, as well as a beautiful duet with John Legend.
“Shine” is a joint venture with Homeschool and Atlantic Records.
