Eminem reigns on Facebook

After recently becoming the first rapper, and third star, to pass the one billion-view count mark on YouTube, Eminem has set another record. The Detroit MC is now the most “liked” living person on Facebook with nearly 29 million fans.

According to Famecount, a service that tracks social media statistics, Eminem passed Lady Gaga as the most “liked” living person on February 24 by more than 8,000 “likes,” ending the “Born This Way”-singer’s eight-month reign at the top.

The late Michael Jackson holds the title as the most “liked” artist on the social network, with 29.1 million “likes.” But Eminem is adding an average of half a million new “likes” a week and may soon take over the King of Pop’s spot.

Although Eminem currently holds the Facebook record, Famecount’s stats show that Lady Gaga is the number one artist on the social media sites it tracks, with more than 8.4 million Twitter followers and 1.2 million YouTube view counts. Justin Bieber is currently in second place with 21.6 million Facebook “likes,” 7.6 million Twitter followers and 1.3 million YouTube view counts. Eminem only has 3.2 million Twitter followers.

But Em, Gaga and Bieber may want to watch their backs, because Famecount has named Rihanna as the fastest growing star on Facebook.
