Eminem, Kid Cudi, Beyonce, Mos Def, Common,…

Everybody knows that Eminem doesn’t quite fit in “the box”. He takes the promotion of his upcoming album to the next level and he is taking his animated career even further. By appearing on Fox’ hit television series “Family Guy” and co- hosting the program breaks through the entire night, on Sunday May 17th.

If you change channels, you might get a glimpse of another rapper who wants to make it on TV. Kid Cudi is set to star in a new HBO series titled “How To Make It In America”. He will make his acting debut in the new television series produced by the team behind “Entourage”. HBO officially picked up the male- centered comedy recently. The series revolves around a pair of enterprising twentysomethings who hustle their way through New York determined to achieve the American dream. In the meanwhile, Kid Cudi is prepping his debut album for a 2009 release, but after this album, he is just going to focus all his attention on the HBO show, which will be shot in August, and his acting career in general.

Other artists seem to combine their career in singing and acting perfectly. Beyonce is touring all around the world with her “I Am” tour (currently in Europe) and starring on the big screen as one of the main characters in the thriller “Obsessed”. And Jamie Foxx stars in the magnificent movie “The Soloist”. Rapper Common took a big step in his film career too. He fights a war against machines in the summer blockbuster “Terminator Salvation”. He plays Barnes, a tough guy with a spiritual side. Common’s movies are as eclectic as his music. Next year, he will make his comedy debut in “Date Night,” starring Steve Carell and Tina Fey. Common’s colleague Mos Def stars the film “Next Day Air”, which was released May 8th in the U.S and already debuted at No. 6 in the box office… Quite impressive!

The young generation is also into Hollywood. Chrisette Michele shared with us her ambition as an actress, after her experience in the series “Girlfriend”. She told us that she is actually “talking” to Hollywood directors. And even the young debutant are dreaming of a career in music, as well as starring on the big screen. The 21- year- old Jeremih, mister “Birthday Sex”, expressed in a TRACE interview that his ambition reaches further than music…

“Next Day Air” scored around $4 million in box office sales the first weekend, Beyonce’s “Obsessed” remains within the top 5 and the “Soloist” is nominated for 2 Oscars. Apparently, artists who pursue a career as actor, don’t seem to do a bad job at it, at all…
