Can Eminem do any wrong? This week makes it five weeks in a row at the No. 1 spot on Billboards top 200 for the rapper, as “Recovery” sells another 187,000 in the U.S.. In a world where staying on the top of the charts for a few weeks is seen as a success, the rapper has blown everyone out of the water with this streak and doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon.
Rick Ross’ album “Teflon Don” came very close to taking the top spot with 176,000 sold this week, but Em still held on strong. Now the question is: can anyone dethrone him? Well, good news for Team Shady, there doesn’t appear to be much in the way of competition over the next few weeks.
Looking ahead at upcoming album releases, experts say that you’ll have to go all the way to August 24th when Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” debuts too find an album that could potentially knock Marshall Mathers off the top. So, that would be another 4 weeks of being on the top, which ends up to be 9 weeks total. If this ends up happening, then “Recovery” could possibly be the most prolific album in Eminem’s history.
