Music producer and recording artist Dr. Dre is still making some major moves when it comes to music but on Tuesday, November 10, the rapper announced that he teamed up with Best Buy a specialty retailer store of consumer electronics based in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and China; as well as Monster Cable to launch a new section titled “Club Beat,” dedicated to the world of DJs.
Co-created by Dr.Dre and Interscope chairman Jimmy Lovine, the “Beats by Dre” product line will give listeners a professional quality listening experience through their headphones. The fully integrated sound will also allow them to hear music the same way artists and producers do in professional recording studios.
With the new section customers will have the possibility of trying out a variety of equipment, from mixing software, laptops, turntables to plenty of “Beats by Dre” headphones, among other things. To promote their new collaboration Best Buy will offer a series of promotional events that will include Interscope artists such as will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas or Lady Gaga who already has a line of high performance headphones called “Heartbeats” and Dr. Dre himself.
According to Best Buy, seven stores will feature a full “experimental” Club Beats area, with a spectrum of products while 300 will feature an “interactive” section. As for the remaining stores they will offer a “core” Club Beats area that will include product selection, merchandising and the newly introduced HP Envy 15 Beats limited edition laptop.
For consumers with an iPhone or other music-enabled phones, “Club Beat” comes with a Monster iSoniTalk headphone cable with a one touch answer button for incoming calls.
In related news, “Detox,” the upcoming third studio album by Dr. Dre that was slated to be release in 2004 will finally come out in 2010. This final project will be the last album for the hip hop pioneer under his name.
