Dr. Dre just released a new song that perfectly sums up his current situation. The track “Under Pressure,” featuring Jay-Z, is the first material from the rapper/producer’s upcoming album “Detox.” After years of delays, Dr. Dre’s new project sounded more like an urban legend. Indeed, the artist started to work on his third and final studio album back in 2003, but then decided to stop so he could focus on producing artists from his label Aftermath Entertainment.
The version of “Under Pressure” that leaked on the Internet might not sound final since it doesn’t include any hook, but the good news is “Detox” is happening! After the success of “The Chronic 2001,” all eyes are on Dre for this new album, set to be released later this year. “He’s working on it. I’ve recorded two songs for him. He’s such a perfectionist. But sometimes that can be a bad thing. You create new pressure when you wait that long,” said rapper 50 Cent. We know for sure the guest list will not disappoint anyone since Lady Gaga, Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, R. Kelly, Pharrell and many others will be featured on “Detox.”
Dr. Dre doesn’t seem too nervous about the reception of the album since he already announced that each song should be a single. Although this might sound a little ambitious, Dre’s talent is defintely up to the job. Let’s not forget that the rapper/producer waited seven years to deliver his sophomore album “The Chronic 2001,” that was named 54th Greatest Album of All Time by Rolling Stone magazine. So stay tuned and don’t forget to check out the new song “Under Pressure” while you wait…
