Celebrity DJ Adam Goldstein, known as DJ AM was found dead in his New York City apartment on Friday, August 28. The sought-after disc jockey who became a celebrity was found unconscious with a crack pipe and prescription drugs nearby. According to police officials Goldstein died of an apparent drug overdose and when they broke into his apartment around 5:20 p.m. they found an empty bag of crack attached to his naked chest.
Goldstein who survived a near fatal plane crash incident last September alongside his friend Travis Barker, the drummer for Blink-182 was linked to reality star Nicole Ritchie, actress Mandy Moore and most recently to model Hayley Wood.
It’s a sad tragedy coming from a talented but disturbed spinner who was set to star in his own reality show called “Gone Too Far.”
Months before his death in a media report the DJ talked about holding a crack pipe for the first time in years for the show. “When I see … the paraphernalia and the whole lifestyle and everything, I still, 11 years later, have that little thing in my head that starts thinking, ‘oh, where’s that? I wonder what that is?” he said.
Of his near death experience he also said, “I guess I get why they call it ‘post-trauma,’ because it was very tough. I have really bad days, and I have really ok days.”
At press time Goldstein’s autopsy was inconclusive and more toxicology tests will be needed in order to determine what killed the disc jockey.
