Nomfundo Moh has released her debut album, Amagama. The album aims to make her a household name following her latest single, Phakade Lami.

Having joined the choir as a child, Sha Sha later took piano and vocal lessons.

 

Sha Sha’s friend helped get her music played on Zimbabwe’s biggest radio station as a teenager.

 

Sha Sha’s net worth as of 2021 is estimated to be around $700 000 – $10 million.

 

 

AMI FAKU

Ami Faku’s real name is Amanda Nomqhutsu Faku.

 

Ami Faku was born and raised in the township of Ezinyoka, Gqeberha.

 

After signing a record deal with The Vth Season, Ami released her debut single, “Ndikhethe Wena”.

 

On January 22, she released a single, “Lala Ngoxolo,” featuring South African rapper Emtee.

 

In 2020, Deezer named Ami Faku, the most-streamed female artist in South Africa.

BERGIE FRESH

Bergie Fresh teamed up with his hometown friend Emtee to create awareness about mental health through their single Made by the Mess.

 

Bergie Fresh and Emtee’s friendship goes way back, they have been friends since high school.

 

Bergie Fresh was excited when he learned he was going to be working with Pearl Thusi as she is one of his role models.

 

THE BIG HASH

The Big Hash has two widely recognised projects on the market with “Life + Times Of A Teenage Influence” and “The Big Hash Theory”. 

 

The Big Hash’s real name is Tshegetso Reabetswe Kungwane.

 

The Big Hash was born in Pretoria on April 8th 2000 and briefly grew up in Soweto with his grandmother.

 

The Big Hash moved back to Pretoria to live with his mother a few years in 2010.

 

The Big Hash’s musical influences are clearly from a wide scope. He grew up listening to Hip-Hop, RnB/Soul Ballads & mostly Pop.

 

 

LUCAS RAPS

Luke Duncan Malong professionally called Lucas Raps is a South African rapper and songwriter who was born in Cape Town.

 

Lucas Raps was raised in Durban, South Africa where he spent a greater part of his life. 

 

Lucas Raps began performing rap in October 2016 alongside Nasty C at the East Coast Radio Huawei Durban day.

 

Lucas Raps was the winner of Sportscene x Puma Put Me On competition. 

 

Lucas Raps dropped out of school at 17 and joined forces with DJ Maphorisa in the same year. He signed to Blaqboy label in 2018.

 

WILL LINLEY

The 20-year-old South African songwriter and musician Will Linley has made a big impact with his debut single ‘miss me (when you’re gone)’.

 

Will Linley’s song ‘miss me (when you’re gone)’ has already reached 1.5 million streams and picked up 5 million views on TikTok.

 

KFM DJ Darren Simpson has already described Will Linley as South Africa’s answer to Justin Bieber or The Kid LAROI.

 

Will Linley grew up singing with his three brothers and his mum, and studied classical singing in high school. 

 

Will Linley plans to continue to collaborate with Noble and the ‘miss me (when you’re gone)’ video director Abongwe Booi.

NASTY C

Nigerian star Burna Boy has given Nasty C one of the best compliments expressing that he is better than most American rappers.

 

Nasty C shared the mic with Sabrina Carpenter, Ayumu Imazu, Blue Vintage, Mizk and others in the anthem-like song titled ‘Colorful’ for the 2020 Olympics games.

 

Nasty C scored his second BET (Black Entertainment Television) hip-hop nomination.

 

Nasty C’s music video for ‘Jack’ clocked over 1 million views in just a number of days.

 

Nasty C almost fell victim to an incident of police brutality while visiting America to shoot a music video. Fortunately, he and his crew escaped without any violent altercations.

 

DAVIDO

Davido was born in Atlanta, Georgia on November 21, 1992.

 

Davido’s father is Nigerian billionaire businessman, Adedeji Adeleke while his mom, Vero was a university lecturer.

 

Davido’s uncle, Isiaka Adeleke is a former Governor of Osun State and currently a Senator of the Federal Republic.

 

Davido’s HKN mates, B Red and Sina Rambo as well as Adenike Adeleke, who recently launched her vlog, ‘Keeping up with Nikkos’, are his cousins.

 

For his secondary education, Davido attended the British International School in Lagos.

Cassper Nyovest dropped out of school in 2006 at the age of 16 to pursue hip hop.

 

Cassper Nyovest started as Jabba’s (HHP) hypeman, which gained him lots of exposure as an artist.

 

 Cassper Nyovest was one of the first South African artists to fill the Dome with 20,000.

 

Cassper Nyovest’s Orlando Stadium concert drew 40,000. Cassper’s FNB Stadium concert attracted 68,000 fans, further cementing his influence.

 

In 2015, Cassper Nyovest partnered with AG Mobile to release an inspired and partly designed phone named AG Hashtag.

TpZee and Q-Mark’s song Paris has racked up more than 3 million views since October 2021.

 

Q-Mark, TpZee, and Afriikan Papi delivered impressive verses on their single ‘Paris’.

 

Paris is an Amapaino inspired record with lovely instrumentals and lyrical flows from the South African singers Q-Mark and TpZee.

 

Q-Mark and TpZee have been in the music scene for a while and has been consistent throughout the years.

 

Q-Mark and TpZee are gradually carving out a unique space in the global music scene.

 

AFRIKAN PAPI

Afriikan Papi features on the song Quantam with Just Bheki, Wunda and Assessa.

Afriikan Papi is still relatively new to the scene and has 1,350 followers on Instagram.

Glass Animals met at 13 years old at secondary school in Oxford and began playing together as a band in 2010.

 

Glass Animals song ‘How To Be A Human Being’ had huge success in America and Australia and has so far sold almost half a million copies.

 

In 2010 Glass Animals played their first gig at Oxford’s Jericho Tavern, the same place Radiohead played theirs.

 

Bayley, who also produces the band’s music, was studying for a medical degree in London when he realised Glass Animals were taking off.

 

Glass Animals hooked up with the Joey Bada$$ on standalone single ‘Lose Control’.

 

BLXCKIE

Blxckie is originally from Durban, South Africa where he was born and raised.

 

In 2020, Blxckie found himself “stuck” in Johannesburg when the country went on a 21-day lockdown, but later said it was a “blessing”.

 

In early 2021, Blxckie was named Apple Music’s Up Next artist.

 

 Blxckie’s album B4Now was nominated for album of the year and his single “Ye x4” was nominated for song of the year and best collaboration at the South African Hip Hop Awards 202.

 

Blxckie won Freshman of the year at the South African Hip Hop Awards 2021.

 

TLT

TLT is a rap duo that consists of two artists, Vusi Rantlha, also known as “Trouble”, and Phethego Makanyane, also known as “L-Tech”.

 

TLT met in 2006 in Katlehong and found their musical chemistry was undeniable. They separated for a while to venture into solo projects, but in 2011 came together and formed TLT.

 

The duo TLT is signed by RapLyf Records, owned by the award-winning Senzo Mfundo Vilakazi, better known by his stage name of Kwesta.

 

TLT featured on Kwesta’s album Dakar 2 in a song called Mmino, which reached a million views on YouTube.

 

TLT’s music video of MaiZuzu is currently sitting at 11,000 views and that number is steadily growing.

KWESTA

Kwesta dropped out of high school at the age of 16 to pursue a career in music.

Kwesta would have pursued a career in soccer had he not pursued music. 

 

Kwesta started as a poet however, when he first recorded his poetry on beats he realised that it wasn’t too different and fell in love with making music.

Dj Hlo is originally from  Durban, South Africa.

DJ Hlo procured a Bachelor of Social Science certification from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal.

 

DJ Hlo’s song Isbani was named Ukhozi FM’s Song of the Year for 2021.

DJ Hlo’s song ‘Isibani’ featuring DJ Manzo SA has racked up 431,215 views on YouTube.

 

DJ Manzo SA has 80k followers on Instagram.

SBONISO

The talented singer, DJ Hlo ft. DJ Manzo SA and Sboniso served up yet another chart-topping single titled, “Isibani“ and South Africa loves it.

 

The song titled “Isibani“ has received more than 400 thousand views on YouTube.

 

BOOHLE

Boohle launched several singles and music albums and is now an Amapiano hitmaker. 

 

Boohle’s real name is Buhle Manyathi. 

 

Boohle was born in the East Rand, in a little township of Vosloorus in Gauteng, but she grew up in Vosloorus, East of Johannesburg. 

 

In 2016, Boohle started gaining prominence for her unmatched songwriting skills and has worked with many music producers both as a composer and singer. 

 

One of Boohle’s songs, Yini Na, reached number one on the South African youth station, YFM’s Hot 99 chart.

 

GABA CANNAL

Gaba Cannal’s real name is  Khaka Yena. 

 

Gaba Cannal was born in Katlehong, South Africa.

 

Gaba Cannal studied at Siyalakha Christian School then later moved to the east of Johannesburg were he grew up and finished matric in Fumana High School.

 

Gaba Canna started producing music at the age of eighteen and started out his music career as a hip hop producer and a pianist. 

 

In 2020, Gaba Canna collaborated with South African singer, Busiswa on his single Umhlaba Wonke. That same year he released his album, Amapiano Legacy.

 

THAKCZIN DJ AND TEE JAY

Amapiano hit maker Thackzin DJ & TeeJay join efforts to form the music crew called Kings Of The Surface.

 

TeeJay and Thackzin DJ’s song Let it Be has over 8000 views on YouTube which was posted late February. 

 

 

SIR TRILL

Sir Trill had a falling out with De Mthuda over the shooting of the music video John Wick but we’re able to set aside their differences and create the masterpiece Emlanjeni.

 

Sir Trill was nominated for best Amapiano Collaboration in the 2021 South African AmaPiano music awards for the song ‘Isingisi’ with Semi Tee & Mdu Aka Trp.

 

Sir Trill describes himself as just a boy from the hood and he used to go by the name T- Diablo.

 

Sir Trill grew up in Soweto where he started his music career and grew from there.

 

DLALA THUKZIN

Dlala Thukzin fell in love with the music scene at the age of 12, where he started out in 2009 by just carrying his late uncle’s sound equipment at gigs around the township.

 

Dlala Thukzin was raised by his grandmother and has been pushing his work around KZN.

 

Dlala Thukzin had his big break into the industry when he started to produce music for West Ink Records as a freelancer Producer in 2017.

 

Dlala Thukzin has worked with some of the biggest names in the House music scene, such as DJ Tira, Big Nuz and Babes Wodumo.

 

Dlala Thukzin has opened to Black Coffee several times, even this past weekend at Envy, Durban.

 

MPURA

Mpura’s real name is Mongezi Stuurman.

 

Mpura was close friends with Mr JazziQ as they were in the same highschool together.

 

Mpura was born and raised in Alexander. 

 

Mpura has worked with some of the amapiano stars including Mr JazziQ, DJ Maphorisa Kabza De Small, Busta 929, Lady Du, DBN Gogo and more.

 

Mpura was in fatal car crash together with Killer Kau, and Khanya Hadebe, where they lost their lives, and they were reported to have passed away on the 9th of August 2021. 

 

NKOSAZANA

Nkosazana Daughter is a South African vocalist. She is a singer, songwriter, and artist.

 

Nkosazana has managed to gain prominence within a few months of her career and she has recorded with Amapiano and house producers. 

 

Nkosazana Daughter’s real Name is Nkosazanah Nolwazi Kimberly. 

 

Nkosazana Daughter was born on 6th October 2000.
