Ami Faku rose to fame as a contestant on The Voice SA season 2 in 2017.

Ami Faku started singing at a house church which her father pastored and is influenced by the church, reggae, and hip hop.

In 2020, Ami Faku was named as the most streamed female artist in South Africa by Deezer.

Ami Faku gets songwriting motivation from her past and circumstances that others go through.

 

MALUMZ ON DECKS

The name “Malumz” means “Uncles” when translated to Zulu, which is a slang word used to refer to your friends in the area the duo grew up in.

Malumz On Decks were nominated at the 2021 South African Music Awards for Best Produced Video.

Malumz On Decks are also signed as resident DJs on Metro FM’s Urban Beat.

Their third album Afro Is Africa featured collaborations from local musicians such as SoulStar, Eltonnick, Lizwi, Bontle Smith Tabia, Lizwi, Khanyisa and DOT.

Malumz On Decks often spent time together before they eventually became friends and supported each other during their respective gigs.

GINO BROWN

 

Gino Brown was born at Masakhane hospital in Alexandra, Gauteng.

Gino was on the verge of quitting his music career back in 2019 after the passing of his brother but it was also the very reason he continued, as well as the birth of his son.

His father was a DJ in the ’90s at his grandfather’s popular club in Alexandra township in Gauteng.

Gino headlined the Gidi Culture Festival in Nigeria alongside acts such as Burna Boy – the first for a South African artist.

Gino used to be a bartender before his rise to stardom.

 

CHRIS BROWN

 

Chris Brown is from a small town in Virginia called Tappahannock.

Chris Brown has released a whopping 10 studio albums.

Breezy starred alongside Matt Gillon, Idris Elba and T.I as a bank robber in the movie, Takers, he was also one of the film’s executive producers.

Chris Brown revealed that he witnessed a family member attempt suicide when he was just 6-years-old.

Once Chris was signed by Jive Records, he decided to drop out of school so he could pursue his career in music.

YouNotUs, is a German DJ and producer duo from Berlin, Tobias Bogdon and Gregor Sahm.

In 2015, they featured alongside Alle Farben on the Anna Naklab pan-European hit “Supergirl”, a cover of Reamonn that reached number 1 in Austria and number 2 in Germany.

In 2016, they were featured on “Please Tell Rosie” by German DJ/producer Alle Farben, which peaked at number 2 in Austria and number 3 in Germany.

In 2019, they were nominated for the German radio award 1LIVE Krone in the category “Best Dance Act”.

The duo played in front of a huge international crowd at the official New Year’s Eve party at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gatein 2019.

Doja Cat’s real name is Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, she was born and raised in Los Angeles but has roots in South Africa.

The American singer, rapper, songwriter, and record producer began her career by making and releasing music on online platform SoundCloud as a teenager.

Despite the backlash she received in 2019, Doja Cat made it onto the prestigious 2020 Forbes Under 30 list in North America.

Doja Cat is the daughter of the South African Yizo Yizo actor Dumisani Dlamini.

After years of trying to crack into the music space, in 2018 Doja finally achieved viral status thanks to her song, Mooo.

CKay’s real name is Chukwuka Ekweani.

CKay does it all, he is a writer, producer and singer.

“Love nwantiti (ah ah ah)” is the centerpiece from his 2019 debut EP CKay The First.

In 2020, his single “love nwantiti” was featured on Diddy’s TeamLove.com Danceathon which raised relief funds during the COVID-19 pandemic.

CKay is the first African artist to chart three different songs on the daily Spotify global chart.

Joeboy is currently one of the fastest rising artists and most influential artiste in Nigeria with an estimated net worth of $750,000.

In 2020, Joeboy was nominated for the next rated category at the Headies Awards but lost the crown to Rema.

Joeboy is currently signed to Mr Eazi’s Banku Music Record Label.

Joeboy grew up in a music family, his older brother was in the choir and his dad played the keyboard in church.

He furthered his education to Ghana Telecom University. It is from his experiences at the university that shaped his love for music.

In 2016, Kuami Eugene was a contestant in the reality competition show MTN Hitmaker in Ghana and finished third.

Kuami Eugene has been in the music industry for a paltry three years. But in that period, he has won 17 awards and received numerous other nominations.

Summer Walker was born Summer Marjani Walker on April 11, 1996 to an American mother and British father.

Summer Walker taught herself to play the guitar via YouTube tutorials.

Summer Walker worked as a dancer at an Atlanta strip club.

DJ Tira rose to stardom in the year 2000 when he took part in and won the prestigious DJ competition held in South Africa known as the “Smirnoff SA DJ Knockout competition”.

DJ Tira was one of the pioneers of the special type of music genre that is now known as the “Gqom music genre”.

He was one of the renowned guest artists on the major TV show called SA got talent season one.

He got his high school education from Mlokothwa High School and moved to the University of Natal to study Human resources at a master’s level.

Prince Bulo teamed up with Q Twins on the fast-paced love track ‘Uthando’.

Prince Bulo and Andiswa Live’s powerful combination is what house sensations need. The song’s lyrics protest against gender violence in South Africa.

Prince Bulo ” has collaborated with DJ Tira on an Afro-house track titled “Stay With Me”.

Vanessa Mdee featured Prince Bulo, DJ Tira, and Distruction Boyz on her song ‘That’s For Me’.

Prince Bulo, has pledged to donate R10,000 from his SAMRO Royalty income to SAMRO Foundation to be used as a composer’s award intended to assist young South African jazz composers.

De Mthuda has made a name for himself through the AmaPiano series. He even composed a song for the movie “John Wick.”

De Mthuda has 256,174 monthly listeners, and most of them are from his hometown, Johannesburg.

De Mthuda also runs a record label by the name of CCA.

SINO MSOLO

Sino Msolo is an Afro Musician artist; he is well known as a singer, rapper, songwriter, and composer.

Msolo was born on September 15, 1997, in Flagstaff, Eastern Cape. He is now 23 years old.

In 2017, Sino Msolo entered South Africa Idol and went to the top 29.

 

ED SHEERAN

 

Although he grew up in Suffolk and his parents are London-born, Ed Sheeran actually has Irish roots. Both his paternal grandparents were from Ireland!

Ed isn’t the only musically gifted one in his family! His older brother, Matthew Sheeran is a composer of classical music.
