The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber’s ‘Stay’ has kept up it’s  No. 1 position in Australia. The international hit, which currently rules the Billboard Hot 100 and Global charts, now sits outright third in the list of longest streaks at the top of the ARIA Singles Chart.

 

The Kid Laroi dropped Justin Bieber’s manager  Scooter Braun after just three months and is moving on to Adam Leber’s Rebel Management.

 

Next stop, Hollywood? Aussie rapper The Kid Laroi reveals he wants to film his own Entourage-style TV show.

 

JUSTIN BIEBER

 

Justin Bieber is bilingual, he can speak both French and English. This is not a surprise since he is originally from Ontario, a French-Canadian province.

 

In addition to Usher, Bieber’s biggest musical influences are Justin Timberlake, Craig David, Chris Brown, and Ne-yo.

 

Justin Bieber had a short-lived career in television. He appeared on the September 23, 2010, episode of CSI.

 

Justin Bieber proved is quite the softy, his favourite movie is “The Notebook”. This romantic tear-jerker is based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks.

Born in Benoni, Gauteng, the beautiful Moozlie walked away a winner at the MTV VJ search in the year 2010 and her career has boomed ever since. 

 

Moozlie was enrolled at Varsity College in Sandton for a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Sciences, however, she left to pursue her music career and never completed it.

 

After having worked with MTV Base for some time, Moozlie moved on to VUZU and Channel O Africa – just the start of her impressive presenter career. 

 

In October 2017, Moozlie released her debut mixtape, Versus, letting the world know she is coming for all the titles. She then released a studio album called Victory in 2018 and many singles thereafter.

Kid X is 31 years old. He was born on 13th October 1988 in Caracara, but he grew up in Cullinan, Pretoria.

 

He has loved Kwaito his entire life, but he fell in love with hip-hop music ten years ago after listening to Eminem’s biopic 8 Mile.

 

He was inspired to sign up in CashTime Family by his friend Smashes. He left the recording label in 2014. 

 

The value of this musician’s lyrics is estimated to be R10,000 per feature. 

 

He and KO, the Skhanda Love hitmaker, won the four titles from the Channel O Africa Music Video Awards because of Caracara’s song. The awards included the most gifted male, duo, hip-hop artist, and video of the year.

In January, Memphis mogul Yo Gotti signed EST Gee to his CMG label and made sure the 27-year-old was feeling the love by paying him a $750,000 cash advance on Instagram Live.

 

The 6’1 rapper was a first-team all-state athlete at Saint Xavier High School and received a  football scholarship to Indiana State University, making him the first in his family to attend college. 

 

Gee was shot four times in his stomach and once in his eye back in 2019 after filming a video with Sada Baby. The following year, his mother died after battling leukaemia. His brother was murdered soon after. 

 

EST Gee is the combination of a few things: the acronym EST — Everybody Shine Together — and the nickname the adaptation of his first name, George (Gee).

They had one more name change before Simon Cowell changed their name again via the viewers of the show who chose ‘Fifth Harmony.

The group member Normani was actually quite the celebrated gymnast and dancer in her younger years as well as a model gracing many magazines.

In just over a month, the music video Getting Late racked up over 930K YouTube views and spawned reels of TikTok content.

 

 Tyla is rapidly rising, with over 726K followers and over 10.6 million likes on Tik Tok.

24 hours after its release, Wizkid’s “Come Closer” on which he featured Drake got up to a million views on YouTube. This makes Wizkid the first African artist whose video hit the million mark within the first 24 hours of its release. He broke his own record with the music video for “Fever”. The video features Nigerian superstar, Tiwa Savage who plays his love interest.

The governor of Minnesota, Mark Brandt Dayton honoured the singer, by naming a day after him in the US.

In an interview with Alex Frank of Vogue magazine in February 2015, Wizkid said he wears a mixture of streetwear and traditional Nigerian clothes. He cited Pharrell Williams as one of his fashion style icons.

Wizkid is the first African pop star to sell-out Royal Albert Hall in London.

TEMS

 

Tems studied Economics at a University in Johannesburg.

 

On September 13, 2021, fast-rising Nigerian singer, Tems scored her second Billboard Hot 100 top 40 placement with Drake’s ‘Fountains.

 

Tems is a talented record producer and produces her own music all by herself. She taught herself how to produce songs with help from YouTube after getting frustrated with the kind of beats producers sent her. 

 

Beyonce and her defunct Destiny Child’s music group played a major role in the developmental stages of Tems musical career. 

 

Her songs were featured in Obama’s summer playlist twice. Tems was featured in the remix of Khalid’s song “Know Your Worth” alongside Davido and was enlisted in the Summer playlist of Barack Obama in 2020.

 

 

FOCALISTIC

 

Rap was an outlet to express pain from his grief and to cope with the pressure from his loss. He also drew a lot of inspiration from the fatherless Lil Wayne.

 

Bonang has taken a liking to Focalistic’s new track too and decided to let him know that she believes he is going to do great things.

 

The star recently called Drake out for copying his album artwork. We kinda think it was just a joke because of the laughing emoji at the end of his proclamation.

In 2016, Tresor was invited by British Grammy award-winning musician Seal to join his South African tour the week after his SAMA win. 

 

Tresor’s real name is Mukengerwa Tresor Riziki. He was born on the 24th of April 1987.

 

Tresor is a Congolese-born singer, songwriter, music producer, entrepreneur and philanthropist. He gained prominence in 2015 after releasing his single “Mount Everest” from his debut album, VII.

 

 His name “Tresor”, when translated from French, means “treasure”.

 

 He is one of eight siblings. Orphaned at the age of seventeen, he left his home in 2007 after completing high school.

 

He listened to music from musicians such as Hugh Masekela, Papa Wemba and Miriam Makeba. His love for music grew and when he was frequently taken to child care centres he began playing instruments.

The Kiffness wrote a song about English people giving Afrikaans oral presentations and it has hit number 1 on the SA iTunes chart.

 

David Scott known by his stage name The Kiffness, is a South African musician, producer and parody artist who is the founder and lead singer for the band, The Kiffness. Despite the name of the band, Scott is referred to as The Kiffness alone.

 

In 2019, Scott banned the South African Broadcasting Corporation from playing his music when it emerged they had not been paying musicians for playing their songs and he alleged he was owed R60,000. In the same year, he embarked upon a solo career.

 

In 2020, The Kiffness parodied the national anthem of South Africa for a song called “Nkosazana’ Dlamini Trafficker” as part of a criticism of Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma’s ban on the sale of cigarettes in South Africa during the COVID-19 lockdown.

 

He was educated at Michaelhouse school and went to the University of the Witwatersrand to study medicine. However, he dropped out and switched to studying music and philosophy at Rhodes University while working as a DJ and playing in a jazz band.

 

ARIANA GRANDE

 

Before landing a gig on the Nickelodeon show “Victorious,” Ariana Grande was involved in musical theatre.

South African rapper AKA paid a moving tribute to his late fiancée Anele “Nellie” Tembe on what would have been her 23rd birthday with the song “Tears Run Dry” .

 

He attended the Holy Cross Convent as well as Greenside Primary School. AKA also went to St. John’s College, and this is where he formed a Hip-Hop group named Entity, with Vice Versa & Greyhound.

 

The rapper lived in Mitchell’s Plain with his grandmother before he moved to Johannesburg.

 

AKA had a bumpy relationship with DJ Zinhle, who became the mother of his child, Kairo Owethu Forbes.

Hillzy’s real name is Hilary Ngaakudzwe Chipunza.

 

He left Zimbabwe for Cape Town, South Africa in 2013 to study towards a BSc in Computer Science and Computer Engineering at the University of Cape Town.

 

In 2018, Hillzy released the project Overdue (The Love Mixtape). Hillzy makes beats under the name Mr Masinh. Narrating how he met his frequent collaborator and producer Beatsmith.

 

Hillzyentered Mr Eazi’s emPawa competition and although he didn’t make the top 10 that would join Mr Eazi for a masterclass, his song You Are Enough had such a huge impact on the Nigerian star that he head-hunted Hillzy and invited him over to the masterclass and offered to fund a music video for the song.

Before Sha sha became the chart-topping superstar that she is today, she was handing out CV’s at restaurants for waitressing jobs and various office buildings for administration jobs all while applying to be a nurse. 

 

While she was still trying to find her footing in the industry, Sha Sha used to make country music. Yes, we know that is a long stretch away from amapiano that she is now known for.

 

Sia has a major influence on Sha Sha, songs like Chandelier and  Elastic Heart inspire Sha Sha. The way she fluctuates her voice is very similar to that of Sia’s delivery.
