 KENDRICK LAMAR

 

Kendrick Lamar was a straight-A student back in the day. In an interview with BBC Radio 6 Music, he said, “School was pretty fun for me. I knew when it was time to press the button and get the grade.”

 

Kendrick was lucky enough to have seen Tupac and Dr Dre shoot a music video at just eight years old. He witnessed the legendary rappers shoot the promo for ‘California Love’ near his house.

 

When Kendrick began his career as a rapper, he went by the moniker K.Dot.

 

In 2015 he was awarded the California State Senators Generational Icon Award.

 

Kendrick became the first hip-hop artist to win a Pulitzer Prize for Music in 2018 for “DAMN”.

 

 

FUTURE

 

Future was born on a cusp (the changeover from one Sun to the next) on 20th November, which means he has the traits of two different star signs. Who would have known?

 

Future’s real name is Nayvadius Cash! He was born with the name Nayvadius Wilburn but later had his name legally changed.

 

Future started his career as a songwriter, penning hooks for fellow Atlanta artists such as Ludacris. His big break came in 2011 when he wrote YC’s hit single ‘Racks’. 

 

Future was engaged to Ciara and had a son with her named Future Zahir. He broke off the engagement in August 2014, three months after his son was born.

 

At the age of 14, he got shot in the hand because he was heavily involved in street life. 

 

JUICE WRLD

 

Juice WRLD often rapped about his mental health struggles in his music. His song “Wishing Well” spoke about his struggles with depression and addiction.

 

Eminem was one of Juice WRLD biggest musical influences.

 

Juice WRLD was discovered on SoundCloud as “JuiceTheKidd”.

 

In 2018, Billboard named Juice WRLD their top new R&B/hip-hop artist, followed by the Top New Artist Award at Billboard Music Awards in 2019.

 

Juice WRLD’s favourite food was pasta and chicken tenders. His least favourite food was lasagna because it had too much cheese.

 

In 2017, Juice WRLD gave his first-ever live performance at a local REC centre in his hometown of Chicago.

Kiana Lede’s full name is Kiana Lede Brown.

 

Kitty Ca$h teamed up with Kiana Ledé for a bilingual new single titled ‘Just Fine. And honestly, we are not mad about it.

 

A Tik Toker by the handle Alannadinh, crowned  Kiana Lede with second-place for the most toxic female artist in her video titled “Top 5 Toxic Girl Songs.”

 

As a child, she was interested in singing and acting. She used to take part in many school plays and beauty pageants.

 

Her first song titled “Hey Chica” conveyed a message of self-empowerment and encouraged women to be proud in their own skin.

 

 KEHLANI

 

She released her first mixtape at the age of 19 titled ‘Cloud 19’.

 

Kehlani always dreamt of attending Juilliard to pursue a career in dancing however her dreams were cut short due to a knee injury. She’s still a killer dancer though.

 

Kehlani inherited the nickname “Lani Tsunami” from her laid-back “wavy” appeal, her fans began to call themselves the “Tsunami Mob”.

 

Kehlani, who has long identified as queer and bisexual, proclaimed herself as a lesbian via a TikTok post earlier in the year. In her video, t and she said, “I am gay, gay, gay. … I finally know I’m a lesbian”. Congratulations on figuring it out Kehlani!

 

Kehlani’s baby daddy is actually her guitarist Javie Young-White.

 INTABA YASE DUBAI

Intaba Yase Dubai’s real name is Lindokuhle Msomi.

 

He was born and raised in Midrand.

 

His hit love song ‘Ngiyamthanda’ reached more than 100 000 000 views on YouTube just a week after its release.

 

Intaba Yase Dubai believes the track spoke to people who are in love with someone, but the family of the person they love does not approve of the relationship. 

 

Msomi’s new album has been completed and is bound to drop soon. However, a date has not yet been announced.

 

 

 YUNG BLEU

 

Yung Bleu’s real name is Jeremy Biddle. He is an Alabama native who was born there in 1994.

 

His musical influences are Tupac Shakur, Boosie Badazz and Lauryn Hill. Also, the songs of Luther Vandross inspired him to start making music. 

 

In 2013 Yung Bleu released his first mixtape, called “Hello World”.

 

Yung Bleu is also known as Bleu Vandross, named after R&B legend Luther Vandross.

 

He is best known for his 2020 single “You’re Mines Still”, which peaked at number 18 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Rumour has it,  Mr Cooper and Drum’n Skillz, respectively, are suing Chris Brown and Drake, who they claim took their track “I Love Your Dress” and made it into “No Guidance.”

 

Before fame, Chris used the stage name “C-Syzle”. 

 

Once Chris was signed by Jive Records, he decided to drop out of school so he could pursue his career in music.

 

Chris Brown is an actor too! He acted in a couple of movies including Stop the Yard, Takers and This Christmas as well as television series such as The O.C, Sesame Street and of course Generations!

 

Chris Brown loves to paint murals and donates most of the profits to charity.

Her husband Nhlanhla proposed marriage three months into the relationship.
