The word, made popular by Atlanta rappers like Lil’ Jon and the Ying Yang Twins, is now an official term. It is part of the 100 words added to an updated version of the Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary.
For those who might be surprised by this. You have to keep in mind that language is an ever-evolving process. The dictionary is only adapting itself to new trends, and “when a word is used by professional writers in mainstream publications. It clearly has staying power” says John Morse, the Merriam-Webster president.
