Corinne Bailey Rae

Nearly a year after the death of her husband, British singer Corinne Bailey Rae is set to release her new album “The Sea,” on February 2, 2010.

The 30-year-old singer, whose husband was found dead in March 2008 of a drug overdose, has been absent from the music scene since that tragic incident. In a video on her web site, Rae explained that she co-produced the new project and worked with two producers Steve Brown and Steve Chrisanthou, the same team who produced her first record, “Corinne Bailey Rae”.

To her fans the singer said, “I hope you guys will like it and be into it.”

As for the impatient one “some hints” of the new album as well as behind-the-scenes footage will be added to the site , so fans will be able to watch the singer as she continues the process of finishing up her second effort.

In 2006, Rae’s debut album “Corinne Bailey Rae” sold 4 million copies. The lead single “Like a Star” became a major hit, followed by “Put Your Records On,” and “Trouble Sleeping.”

Let’s hope that with this new album Rae would be able to channel her grief and continue to inspire others with her music.

Prior to the release of “The Sea,” Rae will perform in London on November, 23 and later across the U.S.
