Less than two weeks ago rapper/actor Common made rounds on the daytime television circuit and gushed about his girlfriend of two years, tennis pro Serena Williams, even discussing the possibility of marriage. How things have changed! According to an “In Touch” report, Common and Serena have split. A source close to the couple told the gossip magazine that the pair “just grew apart.”
On Thursday, May 20, Common appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and touched upon the evolution of his relationship with Serena. “Serena and I have been close for about two years,” he said, “It’s been evolving.” When daytime television host Ellen asked the Chicago rapper about the possibility of impending wedding bells, he responded, “I would love to get married and have kids.” Common also appeared on the Wendy Williams show and further explained himself. “I would love to be married and have children someday. So if Serena is that person, it would be a lovely thing,” the rapper said.
Following Common’s appearances, rumors ran rampant that the couple would soon be headed to the altar. Now the word is that the pair has officially broken up. In Touch’s source explains; “They are two workaholics who couldn’t see each other enough,” adding that “things happen.” Serena was noticeably absent from the premiere of Common’s latest film “Just Wright,” though reps for neither star have commented on the status of their relationship.
