Ciara is ready to get back to basics. The “Promise” singer has announced that she will release her fourth studio album, “Basic Instinct,” later this year.
Following what was perhaps an overly ambitious expression of personal growth on her last album “Fantasy Ride,” Ciara once again resembles the young lady we were introduced to back in her “Goodies” days. This is evidenced through the first song to hit the web that will likely appear on Ciara’s new album. “Ride” featuring rapper Ludacris is a mellow, partially chopped and screwed track that is a promising indication of what the southern beauty intends to offer this go-round.
Ciara has also tweeted a video for “Basic Instinct (U Got Me),” the title track for the record. The clip showcases a street-chic Cici in a role we’ve never seen her before: rapper. The track, which sounds like an album intro, begins with a rapping Ciara lamenting the fact that she “got a little too prissy” and lost her musical focus. Her instincts are right. The short track is a fun, refreshing reminder of why we fell in love with the singer in the first place.
