Christina Aguilera’s fans will be happy to hear that the singer has just released a new video. “Not Myself Tonight” is the first release from the pop star’s upcoming album, “Bionic,” scheduled for release on June 8. Hype Williams directed the video, marking his first collaboration with Christina.
Though we’ve seen Christina get “Dirty” before, the singer knows how to emphasize her sensuality now more than ever. She appears in the “Not Myself Tonight” video as a dominatrix, outfitted in a bondage-mask, chains and all. After four years of devotion to her family, the singer has traded in her ‘nice mommy’ look, opting for a ‘naughty mama’ one instead. “I’m more confident and comfortable in my own skin. I think I’m even a more sexual Christina,” she shared in a recent interview.
While Christina may have experienced personal growth, some do not consider her highly sexualized, provocative new image innovative by any means. Singer/producer Akon recently declared that Christina “is trying to do the exact same thing musically” as his protégée Lady Gaga, adding that he misses Christina’s “cool little look.” A different take is that the artist is “venturing out of her comfort zone and going more electronic,” as her producer, Linda Perry, told the New York Post.
“Bionic” will mark Christina’s fourth studio-album. The pop singer says she has taken a “futuristic” approach with this new record, as opposed to her old-school “Back to Basics” album, released in 2006.
