Chris Brown has issued a video apology for a February assault that left his then girlfriend, Rihanna, battered and bruised. In what seems to be a prepared statement, a remorseful Brown says that his lawyer prevented him from speaking out about the situation sooner.
Acknowledging the domestic abuse he witnessed his mother endure as a child, Brown says he is “very sad and very ashamed of what I’ve done.” He continues on to say “my mother and my spiritual teachers have taught me way better.”
Brown asserts that in private, he has “told Rihanna countless times” that he is sorry, but “wanted to publicly express my deepest regret and accept full responsibility.”
