Though these individuals are making more money than the average household income in the United States, urban artists are failing to pay their taxes.
According to the website examiner.com, out of 20 celebrities, artists such as Kelly Rowland, Young Buck, Toni Braxton, Xzibit, Lil Wayne, Wyclef Jean, and Alicia Keys all owe the IRS.
On the list, Alicia Keys or rather, her husband Swizz Beatz, owes the most money out of all these urban artists. Beatz has a total tax debt of $2.4 million dollars.
Wyclef Jean owes the IRS $2.1 million. Despite these financial issues, the artist continues to show his passion and support for Haiti, after the devastation.
Rapper Lil Wayne is in trouble with the IRS for a $1.1 million tax debt because of his guilty plea. He did this to avoid additional jail time but now must deal with taxes.
Artist Xzibit owes $1 million as well due to financial issues after the cancellation of a popular MTV show, “Pimp My Ride.”
Toni Braxton tops off to $400K that she owes the IRS. Her most recent bankruptcy filing came eight years after her first in 1998.
Rapper Young Buck sued the Treasury Department for having federal agents raid his home in the past year. He owes the IRS $300K.
The last on the list is former Destiny’s Child star, Kelly Rowland, who owes $100K.
