Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton has dropped assault charges against Black Eyed Peas manager Liborio Molina.
This turn of events comes as the result of a June incident outside of a Toronto nightclub, where Hilton (real name: Mario Lavandeira) alleges that Molina punched him in the face. An online game of he-said-she said followed the incident, with details that Hilton, a openly gay man, called BEP frontman Will.I.Am a “f*ggot.” Hilton later posted a video of himself hysterically recounting his side of the story on his website.
As one of the stipulations for the dismissal of the charges, Molina issued a public apology to Hilton. Molina’s lawyer read the statement outside of the courtroom on behalf of his client. It stated: “I apologize for what I did on June 22 of 2009, even though you engaged in highly offensive comments, including a homophobic slur to my clients, I acknowledge that these kinds of issues should not be resolved through a physical response.” Despite the apology, Molina was also ordered to not have any contact with Hilton, donate $500 to charity and stay at least 100 meters away from the Canadian club where the incident occurred.
Molina still faces charges in civil court. Hilton has filed a $25,000 suit against the Black Eyed Peas manager.
