South African dance music DJ Black Coffee, whose real name is Nkosinathi Maphumulo, is making headlines in the music business. He has triumphed over his disability of having one functioning arm and he has become one of South Africa’s best DJ /producers.
DJ Black Coffee lost the use of his left hand at the age of 12 when a taxi crashed into a crowd where he was standing. He overcame psychological barriers and focused on his dream of becoming a DJ. He has worked diligently, studying music production and winning a place in the renowned Red Bull Academy. This has led him to achieve his dream and now he wants to give back to the South African community.
The DJ Black Coffee Foundation aims to raise funds to help disabled children get wheelchairs, musical instruments and educational facilities. He also wants to motivate disabled children to believe in themselves and to never give up on their dreams.
His long awaited third solo album “Home Brewed” was recently launched and a percentage of all sales will be contributed to his foundation. DJ Black Coffee has traveled the world, launched his own record label and worked with great dance music producers like German producer DJ Ralf Gum.
DJ Black Coffee has great plans for 2010 and with his drive and determination the sky is the limit for his future plans.
