On January 7, 2012 Beyoncé gave birth to Blue Ivy Carter, the singer and her husband Hov’s first child together.
The former Destiny’s Child star posted a message from a couple on her website:
Hello Hello Baby Blue!
We are happy to announce the arrival of our beautiful daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, born on Saturday, January 7, 2012.
Her birth was emotional and extremely peaceful, we are in heaven.
She was delivered naturally at a healthy 7 lbs and it was the best experience of both of our lives.
We are thankful to everyone for all your prayers, well wishes, love and support.

On Monday, in addition to saying “Life just got REALLY good” on his site, Jay released “Glory,” in honor of his daughter; The Neptunes even sampled some of her cries on the song.
Shawn Carter, got somewhat personal, saying that there had initially been a miscarriage and rhyming about the night of conception “Last time the miscarriage was so tragic/ We was afraid you’d disappear, but no/ baby, you magic…False alarms and false starts, all made better by the sound of your heart…You don’t yet know what swag is but you was made in Paris/ And mama woke up the next day and shot her album package.”
Some fellow patients with newborns in the Manhattan’s Lenox Hill Hospital complained of heavy security, which at times prevented them from leaving or entering the area where Bey had her baby. Listen to “Glory” below and let us know what you think!
