Azealia Banks recently deleted her Twitter account, instead opting for the blog site Tumblr. She also declared that she did not want to be considered a rapper anymore.
On June 9 the Harlem musician posted a short message titled “No Longer Wishing To Be a Rapper,” she continued “i never was…. and as soon as i started paying attention to bullsh-t urban media, i started getting myself in trouble. From now on i’m a vocalist, and will not be associating myself with the “rap game”… or whatever the f-ck that means… no more twitter for me… it makes me entirely too accessible. Catch me on tumblr… it’ll be more interesting.”
In another Tumblr message she wrote “I’m still going to rap… i just don’t want the label and all the other crap that comes with the “rap game”… it’s boring. rather be a dance artist.. lol…i’m too weird for hip-hop.”
