With so much buzz building around him, Young Money (part of Cash Money Record, Lil Wayne’s label) affiliate rapper Aubrey “Drake” Graham 22, is set to release this year his highly- anticipated debut, “Thank Me Later”. The Toronto -based actor turned -rapper sparked a huge frenzy in 2009 when his third mixtape, “So Far Gone”, quickly became a hot commodity.
“So Far Gone”, a sing and rap effort has propelled the rapper as the next Fresh Prince of the 2009 Hip/Hop Class. For “Thank Me Later” his new project, Lil Wayne, Kanye West and Pharrell co- signed on the album.
Drake is mixted from an African-American father and a Jewish Mother. His dad, Dennis Graham was a drummer for Jerry Lee Lewis and his uncle Teenie Hodges is a R&B guitarist legend. He began writing at the age of 10. Long before his musical career took off, Drake was making a name for himself as an actor, playing the physically disabled student Jimmy Brooks on Nickelodeon, “Degrassi: The Next Generation”.
Although he is affiliated with Lil Wayne’s Young Money Entertainment, Drake is not signed to a major label at press time, but they all want him!
With his hit single, “The Best I Ever Had” already on the radio, Drake is definitely here to stay… He might be the new face of hip hop… He might also be the new boyfriend for Rihanna… But they both deny the rumor so far… Just remember his name!
