Alexis Jordan

As new StarRoc/Roc Nation signee Alexis Jordan is proving, winning a reality TV competition is certainly not the only way to become a pop star. At age 14, Alexis appeared on the TV show “America’s Got Talent.” Despite her stunning voice, she was eventually eliminated. Now Alexis is ready for to takeover the music industry. Just an online sensation a few weeks ago, the 18-year-old singer/dancer has now signed a deal with Jay-Z.

Jay and Stargate, who launched StarRoc label on a 50/50 partnership in 2008, had Alexis travel to New York after having noticed her talent via the web. “Once I got out there we recorded a few songs. I was so excited! And the next thing I knew I was signed to StarRoc/Roc Nation,” the Columbian-born artist confessed in an interview. “Happiness” is the first single to come from this collaboration. “Stargate brought me “Happiness” and after I heard it, I had to record it right away! I was so excited because it’s a universal record and really uplifting,” she said. The video, which features animations and shows off Alexis’ dancing skills, premiered May 20. “Everyone’s going to want to learn the dances, like, ‘hurry hurry hurry, now, quick quick quick!” she commented.

Describing herself as a pop-dance artist with a soulful flair, Alexis’ upcoming album is said to be mostly pop, with some urban, reggae and country influences. The singer, who is currently managed by her mother, plans on touring soon.
