Superstar Akon is the latest celebrity artist launching a fragrance line, “Konvict,” following in the footsteps of rappers 50 Cent and Diddy or singers Usher and Beyoncé. The scent, which is produced in partnership with the singer’s newly formed company, Konvict Cosmetics International, will be available for men and women. The handcuff-shaped bottle is named after his multi-platinum album “Konvict,” released back in 2006.
Akon will donate 10% of all the sale proceeds to his Konfidence Foundation, which is dedicated to increasing public awareness of the conditions in Africa. It also provides underprivileged African youth with access to learning and recreational environments equipped with modern technology, educational materials, recreational resources, and health and wellness services. Its vision is that the foundation’s concentrated efforts in Senegal will one day serve as the international platform to empower individuals, communities and nations with the tools needed to build the Africa of tomorrow.
For fans eager to put their hands on this fragrance, Konvict Homme has a fresh aroma of bergamot and lemon, with a touch of sandal and cedar wood. Konvict Femme’s aroma is fruity with vanilla and almond musk notes.
Beside his fragrance, Akon will be recording a track for a Bollywood movie. The Grammy Award-nominated star will contribute to the soundtrack of “RA.One,” a sci-fi action film currently in production in India. According to the singer, India is his next focus area. The Indian market is big and the singer hopes to also achieve success there.
