R&B star Keri Hilson is one of the faces of H&M’s newest “Designers Against Aids” collection. Aside from Keri Hilson, superstar Akon also features in the campaign. Both of them feel very strongly about the subject and are happy to be part of a project that sets out to prevent the disease.
Keri Hilson and Akon have their own raisons for taking part in the DAA campaign. Akon’s involvement stems from personal experience with those afflicted with the virus. “I’ve had a lot of friends who’ve been in the situation where their friends and family have been affected by HIV.“
Keri Hilson feels that children need role models. “If these kids aren’t aware of the choices you cannot hold them accountable.”
Celebrities are frequently used in these types of campaigns to help spread the message. Keri Hilson and Akon aren’t the first to take part in a campaign dedicated to the greater good. Lady Gaga for instance recently designed bracelets to help the victims of the earthquake in Japan. Justin Bieber put forward a campaign to help build clean water projects in developing countries.
Now you can shop with a clear conscience! The new DAA collection will arrive in stores April 26th. Twenty five percent of all sales will go to the DAA charity.
