It was 8 years ago (August 25, 2001) that R&B singer and actress Aaliyah died in a plane crash after filming her music video for “Rock the Boat” in Barbados. The accident was one of the saddest moment in the music industry, especially to a talented artist who was known as a musical innovator and who later became a cultural icon.
Too many of her fans “Aaliyah” who was born Dana Haughton on January 16, 1979 in Brooklyn will never be forgotten. Years after years her music legacy still continues to shine.
Today, TRACE took the time to remember this talented, gifted, beautiful and humble singer who was taken too soon.
