50 Cent makes history

It’s a pretty big deal when an album hits the platinum mark. Try doing that eight times… 50 Cent did and made rap history with his album “Get Rich or Die Tryin,” reaching eight times platinum since its release date in February 2003.

The album sold nearly six million albums during the first year of its release.

Though the artist was not able to reach the same numbers again, 50 Cent can still be proud to have the fourth best-selling rap album in all of Hip-Hop history.

The albums that are on top of 50 Cent’s, is his boss, Eminem’s “The Marshall Mathers LP,” and “The Eminem Show,” and finally Nelly’s, “Country Grammar.”

“The Marshall Mathers LP” is number one with 10,341,000 sales, “The Eminem Show” is listed as number two with 9,928,000 copies sold, and “Country Grammar” is third with 8,489,000 sales.

Currently, the rapper is working on his fifth studio album called “Black Magic,” which is expected to drop in the summer of 2011.
