Nigerian artist Falz has taken Childish Gambino‘s “This Is America” and applied it to the many issues tearing apart his own country.
On Friday, May 25th, Falz took social media by storm when he released his new video and song “This Is Nigeria”. As the title suggests, the video produced by Wande Thomas and directed by Prodigeezy is inspired by American artist Childish Gambino’s latest viral hit “This Is America”.
Folarin Falana better known as Falz has previously addressed social ills in his country but this time around he took it a step further. The rapper used the song and video remake to highlight many issues in Nigeria including corrupt politicians, hustling youths, SARS officials harassing people, the herdsmen killings and the kidnapping of the Chibok and Dapchi girls.
Lawyer and social activist (and also Falz’s dad) Femi Falana‘s voice can also be heard all over the track reminding us where the artist got his consciousness from.
