Everybody thought R8 would be the biggest release of Q1 2015 but nine months have passed and there is still no album on the way. Even though Riri has released three singles, “FourFiveSeconds”, “American Oxygen” and “BBHMM” this year the Bajan artist still seems not ready to drop her album. She explained why to NME :
“It’s not done!” she says. “To me it’s never done until it’s done. Until the final moment.”
“No matter what I post online, within three comments there’s somebody saying, ‘Where is ‘R8’?’ I could post anything. Nothing else matters. They don’t care about anything but that. But it makes me excited, because I can’t wait to give them something great.”, she said, when quizzed about her fans asking her when she will release her 8th album.
The reason why the release is delayed has a name: Kanye West. Rihanna and him work closely on the making of the album. He is featured on “FourFiveSeconds” and he connected his protégé Travi$ Scott to produce “BBHMM” with Wondagurl . But both have a lot of other extra musical projects and their schedules couldn’t match up last week and next weeks look the same.
Unless Riri lied to prepare a special release, we can expect her new album for 2016…
