Contrary to recent allegations, Olamide‘s “Science Student” doesn’t not promote drugs but instead as shown in the freshly dropped video is a vibrant campaign against drug abuse.
The highly anticipated music video was finally released after weeks of teasing and we’re happy to say it does not disappoint. After “Wo” which has us dancing all 2017, it looks like “Science Student” is another hit for Olamide.
“Say no to drug”
The hip hop artist teamed up with Young John and BBbnaks to produce the track and got caught in the middle of a controversy after many voices claimed the song promoted drug abuse. Olamide denied in an Instagram post :
Since the release of #ScienceStudent, the support has been massive. As you are all sharing, dancing, singing along to this relatable music of mine, I want you all to take some time to reflect on the subject, say no to drug abuse. Don’t abuse alcohol. stop mixing what you don’t know about. Live responsibly and drink responsibly. Don’t aspire the ‘highness state’ but a state of purpose fulfillment and passion discovery. Together let’s put an end to drug abuse and save as many lives as possible. The video will be out soon and I can’t wait for you all to see it. #SayNoToDrugAbuse #DrinkResponsibly #ScienceStudent
Now the message is even clearer thanks to the Unlimited LA-directed video. The video show Olamide trying to come out of a building filled with drug addicts zombies and refusing to drink the unknown substance he’s offered.
At the end of the video, the rapper finally exits the place where a crew of “survivors” get into a Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”-like choreography.
