Rapper Meek Mill gets back on his beef with Drake and throws some tough punchlines at his rival in a new remix for “All The Way Up”.
It seems like rappers are willing to dig at one another through Fat Joe’s “All The Way Up”. While Jay Z jumped on the official remix to talk about his wife and her last album Lemonade, Meek Mill has decided to throw shade at his rival Drake in a new version featuring Fabolous.
The first time the two rappers had beef was last summer. In June 2015, Nicki Minaj’s boyfriend released his second album Dreams Worth More Than Money on which you can find the Drake-featured track , “R.I.C.O.”.
Though you could think the two were getting on well, Meek Mill posted a message on Twitter in July in which he denounced Drake for using a ghostwriter to write his songs. He also assured that if he would have known it sooner, he would have taken Drake off his album. The beef went on through lit freestyles such as Drake’s “Charged Up” and “Back to Back” or Meek Mill’s “Wanna Know”.
Now, Meek Mill fights back again. In “All The Way Up”, he raps:
“Views from the projects, nigga I’m the prospect” : here he’s referring to Drake’s new album, Views from the 6.
“this is hip-hop, you ain’t write it don’t record it / I don’t know how they getting down across the border” : he’s referring to Drake who doesn’t write his songs himself and who’s from Canada, not from the U.S.
“I be in the 6 man 6 man, Dion Waiters” : he’s referring to Drake’s birthplace, Toronto, which is nicknamed “the 6”. Dion Waiters is a basketball player who comes from Philadelphia, just like Meek Mill.
Do you think Drake will respond to these lyrics through a freestyle? To be continued…
