In October 2013, Khuli Chana was shot at by police in Johannesburg in a case of mistaken identity. A year after, he released the song ‘9 Shot’ in which he reflects about the shooting and what went through his mind afterwards. Today, the South African rapper unveils a very powerful video for the track. It comes with the following note: “the video should be seen as Khuli Chana’s artistic attempt to visually and sonically express the plethora of emotions he felt as a victim of an accidental shooting that almost ended his life prematurely and the subsequent media furore that saw his name needlessly drawn through the mud through a series of false allegations and countless media headlines.”
