Serena Williams is honored as Sport Illustrated’s Sports person of the year as she dominated women’s tennis in 2015.
The most talked about athlete this year is certainly miss Serena Willams. The 34-year old tennis have made series of record-breaking performances on tennis courts across the globe including winning three Grand Slam events : Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon.
“This year was spectacular,” Serena Williams stated in a press release. “For Sports Illustrated to recognize my hard work, dedication and sheer determination with this award gives me hope to continue on and do better. As I always say, it takes a village— not just one person. This is not just an accomplishment for me, but for my whole team and all my fans. I am beyond honored.”
This is the first time since 1983, a female athlete is honored on her own by the magazine. For the occasion, Serena has been photographed for the cover of the magazine, sitting on a throne, just like the queen that she is !
