International Women’s month gives us another opportunity to celebrate the amazing women around us. It’s a time when we reflect on the wonderful contributions that they have made and really take stock of where we as a society would be if wasn’t for these phenomenal icons.
Each one of us can identify with not only one but a few female figures who have given of themselves so that we can be who we are today. Women who have literally given the shirt of their backs just to make sure that no child is left to suffer the humiliation of their poverty in public.
Throughout history, women have truly been the backbone of society and when one looks back into history books, when realises that there is no Martin Luther King Jr without Coretta Scott King or there’s no Nelson Mandela without Winnie Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, or Barack Obama without former first lady, Michelle Obama and hey let’s be honest – who’s Jay Z without Beyoncé.
Yes, women have carried us on their backs and many of our renowned musicians are who they are today because there were women in their lives who dared to dream a bigger dream for them.
So let’s take a moment to truly show all women from all walks of life some appreciation for this International Women’s Month and thank them for being the cornerstone of humanity.
As Margaret Thatcher said: “If you want something said, ask a man. If you want something done, ask a woman.”.
So all you beautiful, courageous, phenomenal, exceptional women out there – HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S MONTH from TRACE!
