Megastar zouk superband Kassav’performed at Bassline in Newtown for ‘One Night Only’
Sunday April 26th saw legendary zouk originators Kassav’ appear in Johannesburg’s vibrant inner-city to deliver a performance of Afro-Caribbean proportions for ‘One Night Only’. A horde of concert-goers from in and around South Africa filled the Bassline venue in Newtown to its full capacity.
In light of the recent xenophobic attacks in South Africa, local musicians took a stand against xenophobia and paid homage to universal peace and harmony by banding together with the French super-group on stage for a joint performance of Kassav’s most popular song “Cent Pour Cent” [100 percent].Tresor, Wanda Baloyi, Berita, and Kabomo Vilakazi were among the artists who showcased African unity by conjuring up a musical remedy to combat xenophobia.
Midwaythrough the concert, SA Home Affairs Minister MalusiGigabatook to the stage to deliver a brief, yet impactful, speech for his African brothers and sister.
